TOM is already at Mona!!

The Mona Foundation rescued Tom on Monday June 13th. He is a male chimpanzee, about 20 years old. He was bought in the 90s along with another female chimp, by his former owner, -who already had another female chimp who came from the circus.

Off to Madrid to receive the Golden Footprint

The MONA Foundation has been awarded the Huella de Oro (Golden Footprint) as the most committed organisation for animal protection. The award ceremony is this coming Sunday 12th June, at Valdetorres de Jarama, Madrid. We hope you may be able to come and celebrate with us!

Charity fair at Tossa de Mar

We want to thank our friends Maja, Patricia and Helen for raising money for Mona, as they do every year, at the bar Europa, Tossa de Mar.
We are very grateful for your unconditional support for several years at flea markets, collecting donations and spreading MONA’s word … thank you so much!

The Mona Charity Stall in Girona

Last Saturday the MONA Foundation took place in their first market, the first one of many markets to come throughout the year. We are thrilled to report that our stall, to help raise money for the foundation, was a great success.
Next market will take place on St. George’s day, at Rambla de Catalunya, Girona.

Conference: CONVERSATIONS WITH CHIMPANZEES

Within the framework of the activities prepared for MONA’s 10th Anniversary, we will be welcoming Dr. and Dra. Fouts. During their visit they will speaking at a conference at Cosmocaixa on 4th May, where they will explain how sign language eradicates the division between chimpanzees and humans. Admission is free but reservations are required.

The primatologist William McGrew of Cambridge University visits us

From the 31st March to the 1st April William C McGrew learnt all about the rehabilitation and resocialization work, taking place at the MONA Foundation’s Rescue Centre in Riudellots de la Selva.
One of the main objectives was to conduct a workshop about the research projects that MONA has undertaken over the last few years on the subjects of human evolution and animal wellbeing.
