After expending some quarantine months and getting used to the routine of the centre, last August the 28th Africa finally went out for the first time into the socialising cages. At the beginning she was a bit fearful, but soon the curiosity won and she started checking every hammock, rope, hose and every other object in the enclosure. And she also enjoyed the new sights. As you can appreciate at the photo, she has no longer the severe skin condition on her head, and new hair growing up and in covering everything. As an only precaution we had to put some sun block cream these first days, as she was very pale. But she is slowly getting tanned and soon she won’t need it.
She is very active and playful and you can even see her laughing while running up and down the enclosure. She seems to be pleased with the new space that can enjoy on herself. But very soon she is going to meet other of her own species. It is going to be very thrilling! We will keep you updated. You have to know that since September, Africa can also be supported. This way you will not miss any detail of her progresses and how she is doing becoming a new member of her future chimp family. And also you will be helping us in taking care of her and in making this project continue growing.
