.. we rescued Tico!
The beginning of his life is surrounded by a big mystery, but it is believed that he was born in the wild, he was a pet for a short time, he was about to be used in the show business with no success, and finally abandoned in the mountains near Barcelona when he was only a baby.
On July the 8th 2005 Tico was rescued by MONA, so we are celebrating today he’s been among us for 8 years already!
The beginning of his life is surrounded by a big mystery, but it is believed that he was born in the wild, he was a pet for a short time, he was about to be used in the show business with no success, and finally abandoned in the mountains near Barcelona when he was only a baby. A zoo looked after him, but unfortunately he lived completely alone until he was 18 years old. Once the zoo was closed down he was relocated here at MONA.
It took him years to accept life among his own kind, because the long time loneliness left sequels on him, but we are happy to say today that even though it’s not been easy, he is fully integrated and enjoying life in his big enclosure with his chimp family.
